Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our mobile car key and auto locksmith service across North Wales and the border towns. Can't find your answer? Give us a call — we're happy to help.

General & Coverage

What areas do you cover?

We are a fully mobile service based in Wrexham and cover North Wales and the surrounding border areas, including Oswestry, Chester, Mold, Ellesmere Port, Shrewsbury, Gobowen, Nantwich, Market Drayton, Telford and beyond. If you're unsure whether we reach you, just give us a call.

Do I need to tow my vehicle to you?

No. As a fully mobile locksmith we come directly to your location — home, work, or roadside — with everything needed to complete the job on the spot.

How long does it take to replace a car key?

Most jobs are completed within 30 to 90 minutes on-site, depending on the vehicle and key type. We aim to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

Car Keys & Replacement

What types of car keys can you replace?

We handle standard keys, remote fobs, transponder keys, smart keys and push-to-start systems for almost every make and model — cutting and programming them all.

Can you cut and program spare keys?

Yes. We cut and program spare keys on-site for all makes and models, giving you a convenient, cost-effective backup whenever you need one.

Can you help if I've lost all my car keys?

Yes. Even if you have no working key at all, we can create and program brand-new keys to your vehicle on-site using our advanced diagnostic and key-cutting equipment.

Can you replace a key if I don't have another one at all?

Yes — if you've genuinely got no working keys left, that's our All Keys Lost service, which uses a different process to create a key from scratch. If you've still got one working key, standard replacement is quicker and cheaper.

Will a replacement key work with my car's alarm and immobiliser?

Yes. Every replacement key we cut is programmed to your specific vehicle's immobiliser and central locking system, not just cut to shape, so it starts the car and operates the remote functions properly.

Do you carry keys for older and less common vehicles?

We carry blanks and programming tools for a wide range of makes and ages. On rarer or older vehicles we'll tell you honestly on the phone if we need to source a specific part before heading out.

Vehicle Entry

Do you provide emergency vehicle unlocking?

Absolutely. If you're locked out, we use safe, non-destructive entry methods to get you back into your vehicle without causing damage to the locks or doors.

Ignition & Repairs

Can an ignition barrel be fixed without removing the whole steering column?

In most cases yes. We access the barrel through the column shroud without needing to strip out the full column assembly, which keeps the job quicker and avoids unnecessary work.

Will I need new keys after a barrel repair?

Not usually. Where the barrel can be repaired or re-keyed to match your existing keys, you keep using the same ones. New keys are only needed if the barrel has to be replaced with one that can't be matched to your current key.

Is an ignition repair covered if my car won't start at all?

Yes — a car that won't start due to an ignition fault is exactly the situation this service covers, and it's carried out at the roadside or wherever the vehicle currently is.
